Bird Killing Buildings Depleting Migratory Flocks, Insane Numbers!

So. Nice building you got there. Is that mirror? Oh, yes. Very nice. So it looks like the sky if you’re in the sky huh? Right, right, just what I thought. So can I ask you something about your gigantic sky mirror here? BIRDS!?!? Yeah, you better rethink that one.
Yup, that’s right. Every cool “mirrored” building you see is a bird murdering factory of death. Many of them have full time guys working to clean the birds. I mean it’s one way to create jobs I guess.
What’s happening seems so stupidly obvious that I feel ridiculous even having to explain it in this paragraph but I guess for the few of you that fell down a few times too many when you were little we’ll take it slowly. A person wants to construct a building. That building is erected and then a choice is made as to the exterior material for it. There’s tons of choices but several people choose a mirror look to make whatever statement you need to attach to that. That mirror finish reflects the sky and looks pretty cool. Looks like the Predator right? Exactly. Guess what? Birds haven’t seen Predator. Birds fly right into that sh*t like it was clear blue sky. Poor birds.
Now I know you’re predictably like “hey, so what man, there’s lots a birds and this is just a couple man.” Ok Mr. Pullstatsouttamyass nice decision based on nothing. Here’s the skinny fool and pay attention because I’m only going to type this once…
Let’s look at the case of the $1 billion plus mostly taxpayer funded US Bank Stadium in Minnesota that’s a monster of a building with 200,000 square feet of shinny mirror like glass. A study was completed by Audubon Chapter of Minneapolis, Minnesota Citizens for the Protection of Migratory Birds, and Friends of Roberts Bird Sanctuary that showed in the worst case scenarios it might be as high as 500 birds being killed per year by this building alone!
Take that in. Let’s even call bullsh*t and say “hey man, it ain’t that high!” OK, let’s cut it in half. Let’s say 250 birds a year are killed by every 200,000 square feet of human “sky mirror”. Now next time your in the city look around at how many buildings are mirrored or super reflective. Then take a moment to realize that building is a bird killer. Shame on you building.
