A dozen cases have been reported of E. Coli according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. 11 children under 18 years of age are among the 12. The affected patients developed hemolytic uremic syndrome which is a type of kidney failure. No one has died as of yet. Patients were affected in five states including New York and New Jersey.
The breakout is linked to a peanut butter substitute called “I.M. Healthy SoyNut Butter”. The company has issued a recall of the product.
Center for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that you throw any containers of the product away immediately.
