River in Spain Turns Green During Investigation of Water Bottling Plant
Well that’s not normal.
Last year a water bottling plant in Spain located near the Valira River in the northeast was identified as being the source of a gastrointestinal bug that entered the river and was consumed by thousands. Most of the local population that consumed the water experienced gastroenteritis from drinking from water coolers in offices that were filled with the contaminated bottled water.
So what’s with the river turning green? Actually that’s totally planned. The Andorra Ministry of Health reported that the dye is part of the investigation of the bottling plant to “pinpoint the sources” of any contamination. They assure the public that the water was “safe for both people and the environment.”
Local residents were not amused and expressed serious concerns about the safety of the local water supply. “We already are concerned from what happened last year and want to know the water is safe” stated a local resident that says they will not be drinking from the source for the near future.
