Iran Fires Test Launch of 2 Ballistic Missiles, Navy on Alert
Government officials “leaked” to the media today (why do we pretend) that Iran has tested 2 ballistic missiles at a floating barge in the Gulf of Oman from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps bases in Bandar-e-Jask, Iran amidst world attention on North Korea’s own questionable test launches. It is unknown if the Fateh-110 short-range ballistic missiles that were being tested were successful or not. One official stated that they launched one missile on Saturday that missed but landed “in the vicinity,” and that another launch that was probably successful occurred on Sunday.
This test comes just a week after Iraq tested their new surface-to-air missiles that are part of a Russian made air defense system that they recently acquired. Iran has been consistently beefing up it’s ballistic missile program over the past 10 years and US officials are concerned that there might have been at lease one successful test in this latest launch. The range for this missiles is also a cause for concern.
Iran has a history of “practicing” on mock US warships when they conduct their tests.
